SUNDAY WALK GREEK ORTHODOX PATRIARCHATE DISTRICT BALAT FENER TOUR

Pick up from your hotel around 08:30am. We will walk in Balat and see synagogues, Armenian churches, Romanic churches, Byzantine remnants and Ayazma of Blachernae. We will also visit Greek Orthodox Patriarchate and St. Stephen Bulgarian Church which is the only church made of iron and steel in the world in Fener distict. Then, we will drive along the wall to see the city walls, ruins of the Byzantine Tekfur Palace and The Armenian church of Surp Hresdagabet. Return to your hotel around 17:30.

Fener Orthodox Patriarchate which is located in old Fener town.  Patriarchate is the seat of Orthodox Christianity since Constantine The Great's declaration of Christianity as the religion of Roman Empire.
Tekfur Palace will be visited from outside. It is the only surviving pavillion of the Blachernae Palace. 
City Walls initially was built by Constantine for protecting the city against attacks from both sea and land. After growing the city, the double line of the Theodosian Walls was built in the 5th century. 
Golden Horn was the ancient natural and secure harbour of Istanbul. Greek, Jewish, Armenian communities lived with Turkish people together along the shores of Golden Horn.
