KACKAR MOUNTAINS
Kackar Mountains are a mountain range rising above along the Black Sea coast in North_East of Turkey.
With highest peak Kackar Summit, elevation 3,937 m (12,917 ft) and mountain plateaus at about 3,000 m (9,800 ft) in elevation, is the highest part of yaylalar region of the Mountain Range. The Kackars are glaciated mountains, alpine in character, with steep rocky peaks and numerous mountain lakes. The area was declared a national park in 1994. Tourism activities in the park include hiking, camping, mountaineering and increasingly heliskiing.
Kackar region is almost sub-tropical climate rainlt weather with an avarage temperature of 14 °C. Up to 500 meters above sea level is suitable for tea plantation. Between 0 - 750 meters, large-leafed trees exist. From 750 m to 1.500 m you can see pines and some large-leafed tree forest. Only pines can live until 2.000 meters. Then up to 2.000 in alpine zone. But southern part of Mount Kackar is mostly sunny, the agriculture is based on the cultivation of fruit and vine.
The name Kackar may be used in various senses. It may describe the whole mountain range, including the many mountain groups or it may just describe the Kackar-Kavron group with its highest peak or just the highest peak itself. The local name of the highest peak or its mountain group "Kaçkar Dağı" translates to Kackar Mountain.
On the south and east, the Kackar Mountains are bordered by the Coruh river valley; on the north, by the Black Sea coast.
